What is the Greatest Battle We Fight?

What is the greatest battle we fight?  Okay, what is one of the greatest battles we fight?

The battle of the mind.  That is where many battles are won and lost.  In our minds we battle the thoughts, “Am I a winner or a loser?”.  When we are attacked, do we let it get into our head and let it tear us down or do we rise up against it?  When we have a failure, do we learn from it or do we have a tendency to give up?

One of the big aspects of that battle is battling emotion.  Our emotions can bring us to rash decisions.  We can look at road rage as an example; when emotions take over, the mind can shut off.

If we really want to see who we are, look at how we handle emotional situations for that is when unfiltered responses tend to flow out.  We can see if our nature is positive or negative.  If we like to isolate ourselves or reach out for advice.  If we are quick to make rash decision or become introspective.  If we are filled with anger or peace.

Those moments can be moments of light.  We can see who we are.  Once we can see who we are, we can then know the path we need to take to become what we desire to be.  We can become that which God desires us to be.

God has made it possible to win the battle of the mind. “…we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”  (2 Corinthians 10:5) This is what I love about the Bible; it’s so practical.  Imagine we can take ever thought captive to make it obedient to Christ.  Our mind was made for victory, not defeat.

(If you are a pastor or know of a pastor who is need of encouragement I send a letter of encouragement every Monday to assist in winning the battle of the mind).
